A City on the Up

Derby is a city on the up having attracted £1bn investment into its £2bn regeneration masterplan. The next few years will see major investment in the city’s office, retail and leisure strategies.

Completed Investments

Key investments to date include a £340 million project by Westfield creating the region’s largest Shopping Centre and a £50 million Riverlights Complex, home to two hotels, five restaurants and a £9 million Genting Club Casino.

Derby has two successful city centre Business Improvement Districts. The historic Cathedral Quarter and the city’s ‘High Street’ St Peters Quarter, both offer a unique shopping experience complimenting Westfield Derby.

The next wave of Derby’s regeneration has already begun, and 2013 will see £271 million invested into office, retail and leisure schemes.

 

OfficePlanning permission has already been given for 1 million sq. ft. of new office space and 2012 has seen the beginning of build of Friar Gate Square, the first speculative office development in the Midlands since the economic downturn. More Information on Friar Gate Square>

Leisure  - £50m plans have been approved for the developments of a sports arena on Pride Park, including a velodrome, as well as an olympic sized swimming pool in Riverlights – both within 5 minutes of the city centre.
