Derby’s resilient economy is being further strengthened by significant public and private investment putting the city on the radar of UK and overseas investors and businesses looking for new locations to support their growth plans.
We have a credible track record of attracting investment. Notable recent developments include:
- Rolls-Royce’s £220m investment in its global aerospace campus and £300m in its nuclear operations in the city, including its new Nuclear Skills Academy which opened in autumn 2022 to train 2,000 new apprentices over the next ten years;
- Leading residential operator, Grainger plc opened their first Build To Rent scheme in Derby in the Summer of 2023. ‘The Condor’ features 259 apartments and is part of the city centre’s premier regeneration project, Becketwell;
- A new 3,500-capacity performance Venue will open at Becketwell in 2025 attracting 250,000 visitors to the city centre annually and adding to Derby’s cultural and leisure offer alongside attractions such as the Museum of Making, shortlisted as Art Fund Museum of the Year.
